In 1916 the Canadian won his first Stanley Cup against the Portland League of the Pacific Coast by the score of 2 to 1 winner and three in the series by three games to two.

This game was played at the arena in Montreal Ste-Catherine Street to the west of Atwater and each player received $ 238 dollards for this victory.
